APSC CCE Syllabus & Exam Pattern 2020: New CCE Examination Scheme, Syllabus & Model Question Paper

 Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has uploaded the new amended Assam Public Services Combined Competitive Examination (Amendment) Rules, 2019 in its official website. 


Government of Assam has made a few new provisions and set the following rules to amend the Assam Public Services Combined Competitive Examination Rules, 1989.

Here is the list of key modifications suppose to be implemented in Combined Competitive Examination conducted by Assam Public Service Commission from the next time. 

Key Points of Assam Public Services Combined Competitive Examination (Amendment) Rules, 2019:

1. The main examination shall consist of written examination and interview tests. The written examination shall consist of one Essay Paper, five papers on the subject of General Studies and two papers on any one Optional subject. There shall be two qualifying papers to test the Language communication skills of the candidates. Marks thus obtained by the candidates in the main examination (Written Part as well as Interview) would determine their final ranking.

2. Schemes and Subjects for the Preliminary Examination: 

The Preliminary Examination (Objective Type) shall consist of two papers:
1. Paper-1: General Studies I 200 Marks 2 Hours Duration
2. Paper-2: General Studies II 200 Marks 2 Hours Duration

Total - 400 Marks

The total qualifying marks of Paper-I General Studies I of Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination maybe determined by the Commission.

The Paper 1 : General Studies I shall be set in such a way that 30% to 35% of questions shall compulsorily relate to Assam.

The Paper 2 : General Studies II shall have minimum qualifying marks of 33%.

3. Schemes and Subjects for the Main Examination:

The Main Examination shall consist of Written Examination and an Interview test.

The written examinations shall consist of eight papers of conventional essay type/objective type with limited words and two qualifying Language papers (in the level of Class X). Marks obtained in Interview for Preliminary Test shall be counted for ranking.

Details of Papers for Main Examination:

(i) Paper 1
Type of Paper: Essay
Marks: 250
Duration in hours: 3

(ii) Paper 2 to 6
Type of Paper: General Studies
Marks: 250 for each paper
Duration in hours: 3 for each paper

(iii) Paper 7

Type of Paper: Optional Subject, Paper I
Marks: 250
Duration in hours: 3 

(iv) Paper 8
Type of Paper: Optional Subject, Paper 2
Marks: 250
Duration in hours: 3 

(v) Interview Test (After qualifying in written test)
Marks: 275

Total Marks: 2275

Qualifying Papers (in the level of Class X):

1. Paper A (300 Marks - 3 Hours Duration)— Any one of the language from Assamese, Bengali, Bodo. Candidates from Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong Districts who had not studied any of these languages in school shall be exempted from appearing for qualifying language papers.
2. Paper B - English (300 Marks - 3 Hours Duration)

5.  Marks shall not be allotted for mere superficial knowledge.

6. Candidates will be required to apply online using the website www.apsc.nic.in .The online Applications can be filled up to the last day for submission as fixed by the Commission. The eligible candidates shall be issued an e-Admission Certificate three weeks before the commencement of the examination. The e-Admission Certificate will be made available in the Commission website for downloading by candidates. No Admission Certificate will be sent by post.

7. Negative Marking

(a) There will be penalty (negative marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Multiple Choice Question Papers as decided by the Commission. There will be negative marking for incorrect answers (as detailed below) for all questions except some of the questions where the negative marking will be inbuilt in the form of different marks being awarded to the most appropriate and not so appropriate answer for such questions.
(b) There will be four alternatives for the answers to every question in Preliminary Examination. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, one-fourth (0.25) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.
(c) If a candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as a wrong answer even if one of the given answers happen to be correct and there will be same penalty as above for that question.

8.  Commission will publicly disclose the scores of the candidates (obtained in the Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test) through the public portals. The disclosure will be made in respect of only those candidates who will appear in the Interview/Personality Test for the Civil Service Examination and are not finally recommended for appointment. 

The information shared through this disclosure scheme about the non-recommended candidates may be used by other public and private recruitment agencies to appoint suitable candidates from the information made available in the public portal. A candidate may opt out of the scheme also and in that case his/her details will not be published by the Commission. 

Besides sharing of the information of the non-recommended candidates for the examinations conducted by the Commission, the Commission will not assume any responsibility of liability for the method and manner in which information related to candidates who appear at the CCE/ Selections is utilized by other private of public organizations.

Assam Polytechnic (PAT) Admit Card 2020


Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Assam has released the admit card for Assam Polytechnic Admission Test (PAT) 2020. All candidates who have applied for appearing Polytechnic Admission Test [PAT]-2020. Polytechnic Admission Test [MOM] 2020 and DBHRGFTI Admission Test [PAT] 2020 are requested to download their Admit Card and check the centers allotted.

Steps to Download Assam PAT 2020 Admit Card


1. Log on to http://dte.assam.gov.in “PAT-2020" Then go to the next page click on “Application Login” placed in the top Menu Bar, and an application Login Screen will appear.

2. Login to your account using your “Application Number” and your “Date of Birth” as entered during submission of online application.

2. Click on “Download Admit Card”.

3. Your Admit Card will be generated. You can now take print out of your ADMIT CARD.

A) For the candidates who are unable to download their Admit Card-

Candidates must have -

i) applied online and having a valid Application No.

i) bring valid proof of payment (through State Bank Collect) and Payment Reference No.

1) applied online and having a valid Application No.

Please Note:

i] in case of (A) & (B) :- Manual Admit Card will be issued by the concerned Principal of the nearer Polytechnics from 30/09/2020 to 01/10/2020. The concerned candidates are hereby asked to collect Manual Admit Card from the Principal of the nearby Polytechnic of their centre (mentioned at the time of Online Registration)

ii] No new application/registration shall be accepted during this period.

Educational Qualification: The Candidates must be a Graduate in Arts, Science, Commerce or equivalent with Mathematics/ Statistics/ Economics as one of the subjects from a recognized University.
Desirable Qualification:

- Candidates having 6 (six) months Diploma/Certificate in Computer proficiency from a recognized Institute.

A candidate must be a Graduate in Arts, Science, Commerce or equivalent from a recognized University or any examination declared equivalent by the Government. Also, a candidate must possess minimum 6 (six) months Diploma/Certificate in Computer proficiency from a recognized Institute.
Desirable Qualification: Experience in drafting in English and Assamese prĂ©cis composing is desirable. Good working knowledge of all the software of MS office and other ICT tools.

Pay: Rs.14000 – Rs.49,000 (Pay Band No. 2) plus Grade pay of Rs.6,200/- with other allowances as admissible under the rules.

4. Primary Investigator/ Computor

Educational Qualification: Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination passed in any stream from recognized Board/Council with Mathematics/ Statistics as one of the subject.
Desirable Qualification:

Desirable Qualification: Candidate having knowledge of Computer proficiency for data collection and transmission from field level through online. Preference will be given to those candidates who have got knowledge/experience of field work of statistical nature.

Pay: Rs.14000 – Rs.49,000 (Pay Band No. 2) plus Grade pay of Rs.5,600/- with other allowances as admissible under the rules.

Age limit for Directorate of Economics & Statistics Recruitment:


Age: Candidate should not be more than 40 years and less than 18 years of age as on 1st January, 2020 (Candidate must be born on or before 01-01-2002 and on or after 01-01-1980).
Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable as under:
i. 5 (five) years in case of candidates belonging to SC, ST (P) & ST (H).
ii. 3 (three) years in case of candidates belonging to OBC/MOBC.
iii. 2 (two) years for Ex-Serviceman.
iv. 10 (ten) years in case of PwD candidates irrespective of castes.
